What is Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapy is a healthcare profession focused on improving mobility, function, and quality of life through various treatments, exercises, and techniques. It aims to help individuals recover from injuries, manage chronic conditions, prevent disability, and optimise overall physical well-being.

Do you accept health insurance?

Regarding insurance, all major insurance providers are accepted. Insurance coverage can vary based on the type of policy and specific services rendered.

What are your opening hours?

Our opening hours are Mondays to Fridays from 9.00 A.M - 5.00 P.M.

Do I need a referral from a Physician for my Physical Therapy appointment?

Yes, you do. If you do not have a physician of your own, we are happy to schedule an appointment with one of our in-house medical doctors.

What should I wear to my Physical Therapy session?

Comfortable clothing that will allow your Physical Therapist to assess the area(s) being treated properly. For example, Wearing a pair of shorts if you have been referred for a knee related injury.

Do I need to take anything with me?

Apart from your referral, you can take any imaging you might have done (x-rays, MRIs, etc.). If you do not have physical copies, you can email the report to us.

Dr. Denise Nichols-Roberts

MPH, DPT

Dr. Nichols-Roberts co-founded the Clinic of Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy. She holds a Diploma in Physical Therapy from the University Hospital of the West Indies School of Physical Therapy, a Masters in Public Health from the University of The West Indies, Mona and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Nova Southeastern University.

Dr. Nichols-Roberts has specialised in sports and rehabilitation and has played an integral role in sports rehabilitation on both the local and international scene. Over the years, she has provided physical therapy management to many premier league football teams and Jamaica’s National football team. She formerly worked with the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) as the team Physical Therapist and was a part of the 1998 Jamaica FIFA World Cup squad.

Her love for sharing knowledge and advancing the profession of Physical Therapy has driven her to lecture in both the undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the University of the West Indies and as an adjunct lecturer at Nova Southeastern University. Outside of her profession, she enjoys downtime in her garden.
